The medallion has been covered in a clear resin to give a glass like finish and preserve the beauty of this musical pendant. The music box winds up with a bronze winding key on the back of the locket.

The locket opens and closes by pushing the little button on the side and reveals a tiny working music box that plays an 18 note musical tune.
